it’s been a while…

blimey, it has hasn’t it?

well tonight we’re having a party, pop in if you’re around. phone the shop for the details and we’ll see you there.

news is that everything’s going up in price, eek. to be expected these days I guess.

we’re building a few more Surly Long Haul Truckers for people too – they’re kind of replacing the Dawes Galay in a way until they get here in April. then we’ll just sell ‘em in tandem, as it were.

new Bontrager clothing will be with us in the next couple of months – look out for that – cool in a racy kind of way, though there’s some bagginess going on for the mountain biker and commuter amongst us. I daresay there’s stuff for people who just ride bikes too ;o)

SNOW!!!!!!

imgp1897

While the city flaps around under a fine coating of slushy greyness the lucky commuters coming in from the Oldham area got to play in some snow for a while. It was great fun. Knobblies were the right call as the semi slicks on the Big Dummy had me slippin’ and sliddin’ all over the place – luckily it looked like a lot of people had stayed at home and some schools were closed.

Maybe it’ll keep on snowing and we’ll have just as much fun on the way home!

Where do you start looking for a bike to take you all the way to North Africa via Plymouth and Spain?

Well, in this case you walk into your local friendly Surly dealer four days before departure and spec out a suitable tool for the job. We got the frame on Thursday. On Friday it rolled South.

Happy travels Becky…

Impressive Product History Knowledge

I was tidying out the drawer full of bits of brake when I came across a pair of disc pads that just had “Hope disc pads” written on them. They didn’t look like anything I recognised so I rang Hope. On my description of them as “round and looking like they are made of cardboard”, the gent on the line promptly told me they are for the original Hope mechanical disc brake from 1993! He even knew what they looked like from the back! When I complimented him on his product knowledge, he admitted to being “a bit of a spotter.”  Encouraging though.

p.s when I sent my Mono Minis back for service, they came back perfect in three days.

We now have a small Big Dummy for test rides – ring the shop if you’d like a go.  So far it’s moved dismantled bikes, wheels and rims, people and many boxes to the Post Office.  We’ve got a small video on the Tube for your entertainment here

Big Dummy!!!

Hey all you load luggers, child movers, big shoppers and everyone else that needs to shift stuff…

Surly Big Dummy

We’ve just got our first Surly Big Dummy frame in the shop to build up for some lucky person. After all the waiting and delay we can get frames pretty quickly these days. Have a look here for frame details and here for all that lovely Extracycle stuff you can get to make it work for you. Pop down and have a look if you haven’t seen one before, they look great.

On another note, we loaded up the Karate Monkey with tent and associated bits and bobs last week and went North for an offroad Borders trip - there’s the first part of an account over here. If you’d like a look…
